PM Oli leaves for state visit to India

Kathmandu, Feb 19-Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has left here for New Delhi today on a six-day state visit to India, leading a 46-member team. The Prime Minister is visiting India at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.Before Prime Minister Oli’s departure to India, Speaker Onsari Gharti and Deputy Prime Ministers saw off the PM at the VVIP longue at Tribhuvan International Airport. Similarly, Chief of constitutional bodies, ministers, parliamentarians, high-ranking officials of the government, chiefs of security bodies and chiefs and representatives of diplomatic bodies were present at TIA. On the occasion, the Nepalese Army presented a guard of honour to the Prime Minister Oli. This is Prime Minister Oli’s first visit to India after this election to the post of the PM following the promulgation of new constitution. PM Oli is accompanied by his spouse Radhika Shakya, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Kamal Thapa, Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel, Home Minister Shakti Bahadur Basnet and chief political advisor of the PM, Bishnu Prasad Rimal. Likewise, National Reconstruction Authority Chief Executive Officer Sushil Gyawali, members of various political parties in the Legislature-Parliament, Chief Secretary Dr Somlal Subedi, secretaries, high-ranking government officials, media persons and representatives from the business community are part of the PM’s entourage. During his stay, the PM will attend a reception to be hosted by Ambassador of Nepal to India, Deep Kumar Upadhyaya, to mark the 66th National Democracy Day at the Embassy of Nepal, New Delhi, today. PM Oli is also attending a special ceremony taking place at the Rashtrapati Bhawan on February 20 and will observe an honour guard to be offered by the Indian Army. Thereafter he will offer tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at his memorial at Rajghat. -
